Kaladin's timeline

This is my attempt to establish a loose timeline for Kaladin to use as a reference for the article.

• Is born likely around the 8th month of 1153.(ref: Peter's post)

• Starts training as a surgeon in late 1162 (ref: Ch10 "When his father had started training Kal two years before, sights like this had sickened him.")

• Ch. 10: Stories of Surgeons
  • 9 years ago: Late 1164
  • Kaladin's ten years old: Between late 1163 and late 1164
  • Lirin's been training Kaladin for two years
  • Gavilar is alive and kicking and warmongering according to Lirin (ref: "King Gavilar always finds people for us to fight.")

• Ch. 16: Cocoons
  • 7.5 years ago: Early 1166
  • Approximately 2 years since Ch10 (ref: "He’s been talking about it for a couple of years now.")
  • Laral will start covering her safehand in one year, marking her entry into adolescence: not sure how old this makes her
  • Gavilar is probably still alive (ref: "That’s why the best warriors have always been from Alethkar. Highprince Sadeas, General Amaram…King Gavilar himself.")
  • Tien is 10 years old, 2 years younger than Kaladin
  • It is worming season
    • This probably means it's spring and doesn't mean much because Roshar doesn't have axial tilt

• Ch. 20: Scarlet
  • 7 years ago: Late 1166
  • 2 months since Ch16
  • Kaladin is 13: Between late 1166 and late 1167

• Ch. 25: The Butcher
  • 7 years ago: Late 1166
  • The Weeping is near: 10th month of 1166
  • Kaladin is 13: Between late 1166 and late 1167
  • Few months since Ch16

• Townspeople stop paying Lirin after Roshone tells them to

• Ch. 31: Beneath the Skin
  • 6 years ago: Late 1167
  • Kaladin is exactly 14.5 years old: Early 1168

• Ch. 37: Sides
  • 5.5 years ago: Early 1168
  • Tien is 13 years old
  • Kaladin is 15 years old: Between late 1168 and late 1169
  • It's been 4 months since Roshone told the townspeople to stop paying Lirin
  • It's been 5 months since Ch31
    • Note: This contradicts the 4 months reference above since people definitely stop paying Lirin before Ch31, so I'm taking this as an approximate and the above definite.
  • Rillir is 2 years older than Kaladin

• Ch. 41. Of Alds and Milp
  • 5.5 years ago: Early 1168

• A day after Ch41, Lirin spends one of the sphere for the first time (ref: Ch44)

• Ch. 44: The Weeping
  • 5 years ago: Late 1168
  • It is the Weeping: the last twenty days of 1168
  • Kaladin will be able to leave for Kharbranth in two months (ref: Ch44 "You’ll be old enough to leave in two more months.")
    • Kharbranth accepts students at age 16
    • Note: When Peter's post is taken into account, this means Hearthstone-Kharbranth takes 6 months to travel
  • Kaladin's tour is for 4 years
  • Tien is still 13 years old

• Tien's death (Ch67)
  • Kaladin's third battle
  • Few months after Ch44
    • Cenn's training was 3 months, safe to assume the same for Kaladin, so at least 3 months
    • It has been less than 4 months

• Ch. 1: Stormblessed and Ch. 47: Stormblessings

    • Cenn is 15 years old, he had barely 3 months of training
    • Gavilar died five years ago
