User:Beligaronia/Proposed Naming Policy

From The Coppermind
Jump to navigation Jump to search

This policy aims to set out guidelines for the naming of articles on The Coppermind.

Disambiguation[edit]

Where two articles would share the same name each should be located at "Page Name (descriptor)" while "Page Name" will be turned into a disambiguation page.

  • For example: The article regarding the Mistborn trilogy is located at Mistborn (Trilogy) and the article regarding the allomancer type will be at Mistborn (allomancer). The article Mistborn serves only as an aid to navigation and should not be linked to directly.

Redirects[edit]

While all links should go directly to the relevant article, for ease of searching any related titles should redirect to the correct name.

Characters[edit]

Where possible, character articles should be located under their full name if this is known. The only exception to this policy should be when the character is known primarily by another designation.

  • For example: The article regarding the Lord Ruler is not located at Rashek since this designation is not widely used in the books and only becomes apparent towards the end of Mistborn: The Final Empire.

Titles or role descriptors should not feature in the article name unless this is the only way of referring to the character, or has been canonically stated either in the book or by Brandon Sanderson himself.

  • For example: Adolin's Mother is never given a name in the book thus her article naming reflects this. *I could have sworn she had a name.*

Books[edit]

The full title, as it appears on the cover should always be used.

Other[edit]

Will be decided upon later.
