The {{artist}} infobox template can be used to provide metadata about real world artists, fan and official alike. A list of all such artists can be found on Coppermind:Artists.

image Use this to display a relevant image hosted on the Coppermind.

alias If the artist goes by different names (e.g. real name and a nickname), you can use this parameter to indicate those.

preferred DEPRECATED If the artist prefers one or more of their accounts over others for sourcing purposes, use this parameter to indicate that.

license Use this to specify the kind of art usage permission or license the Coppermind has with the artist.

Note: Automatically uses the {{artist-license}} template, so only values valid for it are allowed here. To bypass this, use 'license.

no-notify If the artist explicitly does not wish to be notified whenever the Coppermind uploads a new artwork of theirs, use this parameter to specify that. Most artist do want the notification though, which is why the row is added by default.

contact Use this to indicate how contributors can contact the artist regarding their work on the Coppermind. Make sure the contact method is linked either here, or earlier in the template (e.g. if this says

type Use this to indicate the type of artist this is for, so it gets auto-placed in the appropriate category.

Valid values: cover, interior, fan, and multimedia.

Licenses

To normalize how art usage permission and license information appear in the {{artist}} infobox template, we make use of this helper template. It defines a few specific license names (listed below), and translate each one of them into predetermined text.

  • all: Use this when the Coppermind has full permission to use all of the artist's work (related to Brandon Sanderson), past and future alike.
  • some: Use this when the Coppermind has permission to only specific artworks or when new uploads require explicit permission by the artist.
  • tentative: Use this when when the artist could not be contacted or has given us permission to use their works but hasn't officially filled the Google Form. Sometimes, despite our best efforts, we can't get in touch with a given artist. In this case, we do our best to credit and inform the artists that their art is on the wiki, but we need to be ready to take it down if they reach out to us.
  • none: Use this when the Coppermind does not have permission to use any of the artist's works.
  • DATE: If the value is neither one of these, the template assumes it has been handed a cutoff date, with artworks before it being allowed on the Coppermind, and ones after it requiring an explicit permission. The value here is re-formatted as MMM DD, YYYY.
  • official: Use this when the Coppermind can only use the official work from this artist, such as covers, interior illustrations or posters.
