Tellingdwar
Residence Elendel
Ethnicity Terris
Homeworld Scadrial
Universe Cosmere

Tellingdwar is an elder in the Village, a Terris enclave in Elendel on Scadrial.[1]

Appearance and Personality[edit]

He is short and dresses in a the traditional style of a Terris steward, with a shaved head and tinningdar robes of bright yellow and orange.[1] He is well-versed in Terris tradition and has the typical personality of a steward; he is peaceable, candid, and turns any conversation into a lesson.[1] He appears to be one of the more prominent teachers in the Village; Vwafendal mentions that he provides reports on Asinthew's progress,[1] and Asinthew later worries that he has disappointed Tellingdwar.[1]

History[edit]

Around the year 314 PC, Tellingdwar taught a group of young Terris students about Terris traditions.[1] He later gave an evening recitation and spoke about Preservation and metal.[1]

A fifteen year old student named Asinthew, who was also known as Waxillium Ladrian, asked him about past violence in the Village. Tellingdwar told him about a murder that happened fifteen years prior, when a Terrisman had killed his wife with a gun of unknown origin.[1] Tellingdwar knew the couple personally. He told Wax that Terris were no better than other men.[1]

Tellingdwar was among a group of Terris that discovered the gruesome scene after Wax was forced to kill Forch.[1]

Trivia[edit]

  • The name originated in a Mistborn Adventure Game session that Brandon played at a convention.[2] A fan dressed as a steward was given the name Tellingdwar, and Brandon later used the name in Bands of Mourning - also making the character short in stature in honor of the fan.[3]
