Stormlight 4[edit]

Is there new info from Rhythm of War that needs to be added?

I did a word search for Hierocracy in RoW and couldn't see anything, so I didn't put an update tag on this. I can't remember any nuggets about the Hierocracy in this one. I wonder if anyone else does? -- Chaos2651 (talk) 17:51, 4 December 2020 (UTC)

General[edit]

No mention of the possibility that the claimed visions were true visions brought by the Stormfather and people then making a mess of things? No mention of the hypocritical evaluation of the hierocracy? For example that the highest authority were supposedly the priests who claimed their authority came from the almighty which is exactly the same today just with the priest replaced by lighteyes. Another one would be that the Hierocracy obfuscated the beliefs of the church behind mysticism, while today every ardent is supposed to find his own explanations and way (obfuscating any consolidated beliefs that might once have existed). In essence, the Hierocracy was a purely governmental failure and all religious aspects were (quite possibly) justified or not different from today in any meaningful way. 141.70.45.8 14:04, 1 April 2022 (UTC)

The possibility that the claimed visions were real ones from the Stormfather seems like undue speculation to me. As for the rest, I see the argument you're making, but I don't think it's really the place of the Coppermind to insert additional commentary like that when it isn't present in the text. --Stargazer (talk) 15:51, 1 April 2022 (UTC)
That's fair enough, although the visions being the Stormfather's seems egregiously obvious to me. And the feel of this wiki is not totally following the text as written to me, pointers to further interpretations don't feel out of place. But like I said, fair enough. 141.70.45.8 02:32, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
We try to steer close to the text and not provide additional speculation. There are some things where you need to put a few facts together to make a cogent sentence, especially on really big cosmere articles, since facts are strewn all over the place. But we do feel pretty strongly about following the text (plus wobs) and actively cite every statement to justify them. We are more than happy to discuss situations where something may not be accurate, but we do pride on accuracy. We have worked to cut away a lot of speculation on pages. Regarding the Stormfather visions, it's hard for me to write a sentence on this without it sounding like: "It is possible the visions were actually visions from the Stormfather." That is a reasonable possibility, but that is still speculation, though a reasonable one, and the phrase "it is possible" is sort of the giveaway there. -- Chaos2651 (talk) 05:00, 14 April 2022 (UTC)
