Commoditization of Metalborn Abilities[edit]

I think it is definitely worth expanding the section on Unsealed Metalminds to discuss Allomantic Unsealed Metalminds. Not sure if the main bulk of this discussion should occur in the Excisor page, or in a new page. I believe "the commoditization of allomancy" is mentioned in a Stormlight Ars Arcanum, if I'm recalling correctly? That implies that the practice is starting to become mainstream and not just a technology available to Southern Scadrians.

Seems like this will be a major subject in The Lost Metal, but we can definitely start documenting what we do know now and expand the section out when more is divulged.

See also my post in the Allomancy Talk page of the same topic title.

A section on the God Metals could make sense[edit]

God Metal-basic metal alloys aren't mentioned directly on the Feruchemy page at this point either. There is good discussion of this on the God Metal page, thinking it could be worth summarizing. Possible huge-spoiler impact of that is worth thinking about too though.

Wajeemba, I think adding a one-sentence or so line to the paragraph that talks about the properties of lerasium and atium to just mention that God Metal alloys would also have Feruchemical properties, though what they are is unknown, could make sense. I don't think that would have much spoiler implications (though, that's not something we worry about much after a certain point); is there something more you had in mind?

Stargazer, I added two sentences about God Metal-lesser metal alloys below the feruchemy table. Referenced back to the Ars Arcanum where Kriss postulates about the existence of different feruchemical abilities to avoid confusion about if this is spoiler for future work. I tied to the Shadows of Self arcanum because that's the W&W text that I have access to (I mostly listen on audio, which disappointingly don't include arcanum entries in the Era 2 recordings!). If someone is able to check the Alloy of Law arcanum it would be preferable to reference that for the entry about God Metal-lesser metal alloys & other potential feruchemical powers if it's in there.

Wajeemba, looks good to me; I also added a note on harmonium. The same information is indeed in the AoL Ars Arcanum—I'm actually not sure the Ars Arcanum has changed at all across Era 2—so I changed that reference as well

Looks great, thank you! With TLM, mention of Telson's quote about a feruchemist being able to store their pain would make sense. We don't know what metal is involved (though I have strong suspicions), but it must involve a God Metal or a God Metal-lesser metal alloy, by the process of elimination of the lesser metal abilities all being known. Not a problem! With regards to storing pain though, there are actually WoBs that it's one of the senses that can be stored in a tinmind (wob:10519) and that tin in general isn't limited to the five senses (wob:3387), so I'm not sure we have enough to claim that a God Metal is involved there. --Stargazer (talk) 18:02, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

Citation 41?[edit]

At the start of the History section, this statement is cited as [41]:

Feruchemy came into existence contemporaneously with the other Metallic Arts, Allomancy and Hemalurgy, as a result of the interactions between the planet Scadrial and its Shards, Preservation and Ruin.[41]

However, as far as I can tell, [41] links here: https://wob.coppermind.net/events/243-hero-of-ages-qa-time-wasters-guide/#e5269

Which talks only about Kandra and Hemalurgy. Is this citation incorrect? I don't know what was intended to be cited.

I believe the reference is for the second part of that WoB, where Brandon says that Hemalurgy "like the other two powers, was not created by Ruin or Preservation, but by the natural state of the world and its interaction with the gods who created it." --Stargazer (talk) 22:52, 23 November 2022 (UTC)

Needs update with TLM content[edit]

In TLM Telsin mentions that a feruchemist can "store their pain" in a metalmind. My suspicion in that this uses Raysium, as it sounds very similar to what Odium does for Moash. We don't know the specifics, but we can mention the first part.

I'm thinking that it may eventually make sense to make a second god metals table beneath the base metals table once we start to learn more about their feruchemical abilities.

Actually, we have WoBs that tin is not limited to the basic five sense and specifically that it can store the ability to sense pain (wob:3387 and wob:10519), so I imagine that's all it is. I wouldn't be surprised if we do eventually need a table for God Metals as well at some point, though I would agree not yet. --Stargazer (talk) 20:31, 2 April 2023 (UTC)
