The Takers were a squad of soldiers in Amaram's army lead by Tukks on Roshar that Kaladin was a member of.[1]
The squad was composed of darkeyes, and fought using spears. Outside of battle, they also trained new soldiers, both with spear and with quarterstaff.[2][3] Their training methods included corporeal punishment.[4]
It was Kaladin's first unit upon joining, and it's there that he'd refined his natural talent with the spear into proper skill.[2] At some point, either most or all of them died, and Kaladin was transfered elsewhere, perhaps straight to leading his own squad.[1]
