Susebron is the God King of Hallandren on Nalthis[2] around 300 years after the Manywar. He is a Returned and is given two or more Breaths every week by his subjects in order to keep him alive.[3] He is the fifth God King in the three hundred years since the Manywar.[4]
Appearance & Personality
As a Returned, Susebron looks much younger than he really is, which is around 50 years at the time of the events recorded in Warbreaker.[5] He is described as having dark hair, black eyes, and pale skin, though it is revealed later that he can learn to change his appearance at will.
He is naive, having grown up in a virtual prison imposed upon him by his priests. Still, he follows the morals in the stories of a book belonging to his mother and lives by them.[6] Later, he begins to figure some things out for himself.

History
He was an infant returned fifty years before the event of Warbreaker. When he returned, the last God King was unable to produce a child, so the infant Susebron was given Peacegiver's Treasure and become God King.Template:Annotation ref
He resided, mostly alone, in the black palace that was given to the God Kings. Despite being the official ruler of Hallandren, he was kept away from its people and other Returned, only coming out briefly on special occasions. This was to hide that his tongue had been cut out by his priests when he first Returned, so he could not use his great wealth of Breaths with Commands[7] (as he had not been taught to Awaken with a thought). He has over fifty thousand Breaths; his inheritance from the first God King and those who followed.
During the events of Warbreaker, Susebron marries Siri in order to preserve the peace between Hallandren and Idris. At first he fears Siri, uncertain why she spends her nights waiting, naked, on his floor. When the two finally begin communicating (him writing on a board, her speaking), his innocence is revealed. Siri teaches Susebron to read using the story book of his mother[6] that he had 'hidden' from his priests.Template:Annotation ref He had heard the stories so many times and looked at it over the years that he had memorized each symbol, and the morals of the stories in the book were in part the code by which he lived. This meant he was honest and did not eat too many sweets. He and Siri eventually fall in love and she begins to plan how to reveal to the other gods that he has no tongue. She also teaches him other things, ideas such as sarcasm and mockery, and about other places such as Idris, and her own life. Susebron expresses an interest in meeting Austre.[citation needed]
The Pahn Kahl attack of the Court of the Gods sees him imprisoned in his own palace. His tongue was restored when Lightsong gives up his divine Breath to heal him.[8] As Susebron has so many Breaths, he was able to Awaken instinctively now that he could speak. He frees his palace from the Pahn Kahl invaders and saves Siri.[9]
Susebron continues to reside in his palace with Siri after saving her homeland, Idris, from the Lifeless army using Kalad's Phantoms.
Attributes and Abilities
Susebron has been gifted with Peacegiver's Treasure. It is a sum of approximately 50,000 Breaths, meaning he has achieved the 10th Heightening and granted a myriad of different abilities gained from the different Heightenings.
Little is known about those who have achieved this level of Heightening, but it is known that those who possess this level of Breaths have Perfect Invocation, allowing the Awakener to draw more color from objects used, draining them to completely white, rather than merely grey, as well as Mental Command, allowing them to Awaken without voicing them. A third effect of the 10th Heightening is Color Distortion, which causes white objects in their vicinity to break up their colors like a prism, creating further color.
Susebron most noticeably displayed these skills during the Pahn Kahl rebellion, using them to free Siri from those who wished to harm her.[citation needed]
