Newcago is the name of the city founded and lead by Steelheart on the metallic ruins of Chicago.[1]
Steelheart rules Newcago with an steel fist.
He is eventually killed by the Reckoners.
During Steelheart's fit of rage, he transformed most of lake Michigan, the city, and much of the underground into solid steel. The upper class and party members live above, while peasants live in a network of caverns and factories underground. A group of epics dug these tunnels, but went insane and eventually the tunnels became erratic and impossible to navigate. It is in these tunnels that the Reckoners have on of their hideouts. David Charleston grew up in a factory there.
