Karkun is the first Dark One on Mirandus, and set the Narrative in motion according to Rastik. They created the Dark Keep in Pitch where the Well of Sorrows is contained.[1]
It is never explicitly stated, but it is suspected the Warfields of Karkun and/or Uls Karkun are named as such because of Karkun.
