Make sure you [[:Help:Markup#Indents|indent]] your comment ''one level higher'' than the one you are replying to by using colons (<code>:</code>). This allows for better readability and makes it clear who you are replying to. For example, after three people comment, the page will look like this:
  +
  +
{| class="wikitable" width=100%
  +
|-
  +
| width=50%|<pre>
  +
Hey there, I'm first!

: oooooh, I'm second!

:: totally got here third!

</pre>

Again, make sure you sign the comment with <code><nowiki>~~~~</nowiki></code> at the end of your comment. If you need to start a new paragraph, simply return and re-indent. For example:
  +
  +
{| class="wikitable" width=100%
  +
|-
  +
| width=50%|<pre>
  +
: this line is indented
  +
: and so is this one ~~~~

On rare occaisions a topic may become so full of replies that the level of indentation becomes troublesome. When this happens, simply reduce the level of indentation:
  +
  +
{| class="wikitable" width=100%
  +
|-
  +
| width=50%|<pre>
  +
::::: this line is indented too far
  +
:::::: and so is this one
  +
: so reduce the indentation for your comment
  +
</pre>

This article describes how to engage in discussion on Coppermind Discussion Pages.

Using Discussion Pages

In general, you are encouraged to take your questions to the Coppermind board on the 17th Shard website. Alternatively, you can make use of the Coppermind Discord chat.

If you need to discuss the content of a page directly on the wiki, click on the Discussion tab at the top left of the page. Note that if the link is red, the Discussion page does not currently exist. You will have to create it.

Creating a new topic

To begin discussion of a new topic, choose the "Add topic" tab to the top right of the page. This lets you make a new topic for discussion. It will ask for a "Subject", which will serve as the section title for the topic, and then any comments you may have.

Make sure you sign your comment by appending ~~~~ at the end. This will automatically be replaced by your username and a time stamp when you save your changes.

Replying to existing topics

If you wish to discuss a topic that has already been created, click the "[edit]" button next to the desired topic.

Make sure you indent your comment one level higher than the one you are replying to by using colons (:). This allows for better readability and makes it clear who you are replying to. For example, after three people comment, the page will look like this:

Hey there, I'm first!
: oooooh, I'm second!
:: totally got here third!

Hey there, I'm first!

oooooh, I'm second!
totally got here third!

Again, make sure you sign the comment with ~~~~ at the end of your comment. If you need to start a new paragraph, simply return and re-indent. For example:

: this line is indented
: and so is this one ~~~~
this line is indented
and so is this one Joe ST 12:19, 20 September 2011 (UTC)

On rare occaisions a topic may become so full of replies that the level of indentation becomes troublesome. When this happens, simply reduce the level of indentation:

::::: this line is indented too far
:::::: and so is this one
: so reduce the indentation for your comment
this line is indented too far
and so is this one
so reduce the indentation for your comment
