Hanavanar is the king of Jah Keved.[1] He is assassinated by Szeth[2] on the orders of King Taravangian of Kharbranth in order to cause political instability.[3]

Hanavanar is on fairly good terms with the rulers of Alethkar, good enough that Shallan believed that if her theft of Jasnah's Soulcaster was discovered, he would have turned House Davar over to the Alethi for execution.[1]

Appearance

Hanavanar wears a square, brown, beard, and a prominent nose.[2] A thick man, he has a wide waist and shoulders.

Personality

Hanavanar is a rather clever man, smart enough to realize that he could be a potential target for Szeth, after three of the Veden highprinces are murdered. He is also wily enough to keep his Shardblade a secret, although some rumors manage to get out. However, he severely underestimates Szeth's abilities, arrogantly assuming that he, two Shardbearers, and guards wielding half-shards are enough to defeat Szeth.
