Hanavanar is the king of Jah Keved.[1] He is assassinated by Szeth[2] on the orders of King Taravangian of Kharbranth in order to cause political instability.[3]
Hanavanar is on fairly good terms with the rulers of Alethkar, good enough that Shallan believed that if her theft of Jasnah's Soulcaster was discovered, he would have turned House Davar over to the Alethi for execution.[1]

However, he severely underestimates Szeth's abilities, arrogantly assuming that he, two Shardbearers, and guards wielding half-shards are enough to defeat Szeth. He also grows frustrated easily, swearing at his men when they fail to kill Szeth quickly.
