—Fob on Siri [1]

Fob was one of Denth and Tonk Fah’s many contacts in T'Telir. As a merchant, he made a deal with the Hallandren government to clear land using Lifeless workers, which he then rented out to farmers. As payment for the loan of Lifeless workers, all of the food produced on Fob’s land became the property of the Returned gods during wartime.[1]

Denth contacted him in an effort to convince him to harvest his lands early, before war broke out between Idris and Hallandren. If he would do so, Fob would have made a nice profit and Hallandren would have one less source of food should they go to war. However, harvesting early would only have served to help his competition if the Idrian and Hallandren relations remained peaceful. Fob did not immediately believe Denth’s claims that war was inevitable, however after seeing proof of Vivenna’s Royal Locks, he promised to consider Denth's proposal.[1]
