The Taldain system is the planetary system that contains Taldain. It is a binary system consisting of one large star and a secondary smaller star. The smaller, a relatively dim white dwarf, is surrounded by a dense cloud of particles known as the Particulate Ring.[1] The larger, a blue-white supergiant, plays an important role in the means by which Taldain is Invested by Autonomy.[1] The positioning of the system was intentionally designed by someone,[2][3] presumably Autonomy. It is likely that space travel within the system is nearly impossible due to the highly Invested light.[4]

Celestial Bodies[edit]

Taldain is the sole planet inhabiting the Taldain system. It is tidally locked and located at a Lagrange point[5] such that Dayside always faces the larger star while Darkside always faces the smaller, weak star, which is obscured by the Particulate Ring.[1][3]
It is in an unstable orbit known as "Wombear's Saddle", where it is kept from ever entering into its natural stable orbit by the gravity of Ridos, and by some other, unknown force, presumably Autonomy.[3]
A single moon, Nizh Da, is in a polar orbit around the planet.[1] Its orbit is actively manipulated by an outside force to keep the same orbit relative to Taldain.[3] Its orbit is used to define the length of a day on Taldain.[3]
A blue-white supergiant that holds the Eye of Ridos and Taldain in its orbit.[1][3]
The Eye of Ridos
A relatively faint white dwarf surrounded by a particulate ring.[1][3] Sometimes shortened to simply Ridos. It sends out pulses of light and Investiture through the particulate ring every seven orbits of Nizh Da, which Invests the Starcarved.[3]
