Essu is a Fused on Roshar.[1] She is Raboniel's daughter.[2] After her death, Essu's body was burned and the ashes were returned to the family of the singer she inhabited.[1]

Appearance and Personality

Essu has red-orange hair in a top knot and skin pattern similar to her mother, Raboniel.[2]

Essu would drool, not because of paralysis, but because her mind had been broken by the unending cycle of death and rebirth. An attendant in workform would dab away the drool. Essu would follow and even mimic her mother Raboniel.[1]

Relationships

Raboniel

Essu followed her mother throughout Urithiru. She would ask for her mother as she stared blankly past her. Essu was one of the Fused whose minds were broken after thousands of years, disproving a theory Raboniel had that a mother and daughter serving together would preserve their sanity.[2]

Raboniel's goal was to create Anti-Voidlight, as a means of freeing her daughter from the endless cycle of rebirth. Once she and Navani discovered Anti-Voidlight, she constructed a dagger and finally killed Essu.[1] Raboniel later confirmed that Essu was permanently gone, having consulted with the souls on Braize.[3]

Trivia

  • Navani notices Essu humming a tune sung by humans in taverns.[4]
