Eriola is a banker in New Seran on Scadrial.

Appearance and Personality

He is short, rather portly, and dark-skinned.[1] Wayne describes both his gut and head as "cannonball-shaped" and thinks he is part dolphin. Eriola is somewhat reluctant to help Marasi when he first meets her and seems to be put out by her presence. He is skeptical by nature and protective of the privacy of the bank's clients.[1]

History

Marasi and Wayne visited his place of employ and asked to see the ledgers of some graveyard workers. Wayne found the double entendre in his name humorous, and was disappointed that Marasi approached the situation from an official constabulary angle rather than using subterfuge.[1] Although Marasi presented identification, Eriola was suspicious of the pair. He stalled while he requested confirmation from Constable-General Reddi that their investigation was legitimate before he divulged any information. While he waited, Wayne constructed a tower using the objects on Eriola's desk and covertly swapped his letter-opener for a very long rat's tail. Marasi found what she was looking for; the graveyard workers were stealing personal effects from corpses, which shocked Eriola.[1]

Marasi later explained to Wayne that certain people like Eriola respond well to authority, and Wayne grudgingly agreed.[2]
