Alalan is a darkeyed potter in Urithiru. He works at Master Liganor's pottery shop, and was trained as a potter prior to his employment there. During Raboniel's occupation of Urithiru, he helps care for the fallen Knights Radiant. He is protective of his son, Adin, warning him not to glare at Regals, lest they notice. He also leaves his home every night in secret for unknown reasons. Alalan stays calm when hearing about commotion in the atrium before Kaladin's final fight with Lezian. Master Liganor looks to him for approval in closing the pottery shop, and after the shop is closed Alalan goes to watch over the Radiants with his son.[1]

Alalan was injured during the revolt against the Singers, but Adin says he is still alive.[2]
