Following the Reod, Ahan rose to prominence in Iadon's income-based meritocracy. His fortune was second only to Duke Roial, with whom Ahan shared a friendly rivalry.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; refs with no name must have content Ahan, along with Roial and several others, was part of Sarene's resistance to Hrathen's efforts to convert Arelon.

Shortly after Telrii seized control of Arelon in the wake of Iadon's death, Ahan betrayed the group of resisters in an effort to finally best his long-time rival.
