A Soothing parlor is a type of business in Elendel where people go to to have their emotions dampened. For an additional fee, private sessions can be set up which may also include massage therapy.[1]

Soothing parlors are required to have aluminum plating in the walls to prevent the effects of the Soothing inside the building from affecting people outside the building. This rule is not always enforced. The proprietors also wear aluminum lined hats so they can be immune to the Soothing around them.[1]
