The Seventeenth Shard is a mysterious organization that, along with Hoid and the Shards, is speculated to be influential in the overall Cosmere.
“ I am being chased. Your friends of the Seventeenth Shard, I suspect. I believe they're still lost, following a false trail I left for them. They'll be happier that way. I doubt they have any inkling what to do with me should they actually catch me. ”

Ishikk the Purelaker is acting as a guide and informant to three unnamed foreigners who are looking for Hoid.[2] Ishikk has nicknames for the three man Grump, Thinker, and Blunt. They have been confirmed to be from the Seventeenth Shard. Grump has the distinct linguistic pattern of Dulas from Sel, it has been confirmed by Brandon that Grump is Galladon.[3] Brandon has also confirmed at a signing that Thinker is Demoux from Scadrial;[4] this was first conjectured in the 17th Shard forums based on the scar on Demoux's scalp.[5] The third member called Blunt is Baon from Taldain, the Shardworld in which the graphic novel of White Sand, as well as its unpublished prose novel form, take place.
