Stormlight Archive 4 refers to the untitled fourth book in the The Stormlight Archive.

Development

Brandon began writing Stormlight Archive 4 in January 2019, with publication planned for 2020.[1][2]

The book's flashback sequence will feature Eshonai,[3] and Venli's role in the present timeline will be expanded.[4] The remaining protagonists, including Kaladin, Shallan, Dalinar, and Szeth, will also feature prominently.[4] The prologue will be written from the perspective of Navani.[5] The story is set to take place approximately one year after the events of Oathbringer.[4]

Brandon has mentioned that he is particularly looking forward to writing Wit's epilogue in Stormlight Archive 4.[6]

Readings

Brandon has shared several fragments of Stormlight Archive 4 over the course of writing it, though it must be remembered that those come from the first draft, and as such are subject of change.

  • Two versions of a Lirin point-of-view fragments: the first, in which he's walking thorugh town looking for the Herdazian general, and the second, in which he's examining refugees coming to Hearthstone from Herdaz, while searching for the same man.
  • A recorded reading of a Venli point-of-view section, which can be listened to here, as Venli is getting ready to receive lady Leshwi in the conquered Kholinar.
  • A fragment of the Navani prologue, which can be found here.

Trivia

One of Stormlight Archive 4's working titles was The Song of Changes, though this is unlikely to be used as the final title.[3] Brandon has since announced that the book is 'tentatively' titled The Rhythm of War.[7]
