Captain Matthew Cobb (callsign: Mongrel) is a flight instructor for the DDF and a First Citizen. He was the wingmate of Zeen Nightshade (callsign: Chaser), Spensa's father, and when Chaser betrayed Hope flight during Battle of Alta and began to shoot down friendly ships, Cobb shot him down on Ironside's orders.

Appearance and Personality

Cobb is described to be somewhere in his fifties. He has a stark white mustache. Cobb walks with a limp due to being shot down in a battle shortly after the Battle of Alta.

• His first name, Matthew, is very rarely used, even by his own family.
