Skyward 3 is the third book in the Skyward series by Brandon Sanderson. It is the sequel to Starsight. Brandon wanted to call the book Nowhere, though the publisher opposed the idea.[1] He ended up deferring to their request, and a new title has been chosen, but it has yet to be revealed.[2]
Development
In a Reddit Q&A leading up to the release of the first book, Brandon stated that the trilogy would likely become a four book series.[3] In his 2018 State of the Sanderson, he stated that due to the amount of needed to complete Rhythm of War, Skyward 3 "[wouldn't] be written until 2020, for a spring 2021 release."[4] In the 2019 State of the Sanderson, this was updated to writing in late 2020 for a "likely" 2021 release.[5]
At some point in early 2020, Brandon decided that the book would have two alternating points of view, though it's unclear who would join Spensa and whether their sections would also be written in first person.[6]
