Black Fryan is a stimulant used during the Final Empire.[1] It is a described as a "nasty drug" due to its addictive nature.

When ingesting its leaves, one feels stronger and more alert.[1] If one takes it when they wake up, it awakens them rapidly. It also makes the body feel warm, warming the blood, making it feel as if one was burning an Allomantic metal.[2]

Amaranta administered it to Straff Venture, and Straff was addicted to the substance,[1] though he thought it was a benefit, not a drawback.[2]
