The Key[edit]

I don’t think we can say for sure this is Telsin. The Key is only mentioned one in the novel and not in a way that connects her to the title. I think its too much of a stretch to say she is the leader. We know that multiple individuals have different plans going on like Gave who seems to possibly the same rank as Telsin. I think its probable that the Key is an offworlder given someone had to found the organization and Telsin is mentioned as a Sequence in BoM. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 09:13, 18 November 2022 (UTC)

I would disagree here as Telsin is framed as the leader of the organisation throughout the novel and this is the Key's goal. As well as that it would seem bizarre for Autonomy to create an organisation like the Set and not place their own Avatar at the top of it. Telsin also mentions that she is above Gave's during a conversation with Wax, (chapter 35 I think.)--Debarra (talk) 12:09, 18 November 2022 (UTC)
Being framed as the leader and being explicitly acknowledged as the leader in a citable manner are two different things. While I realize that speculation and theorizing is allowed on this wiki it should still be noted as such. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 01:54, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
I'm not sure what you mean exactly since Telsin, to my memory, is explicitly stated to be their leader multiple times. Also, again, the sole alternative then would be to suggest that Autonomy created an organisation in which their Avatar was not the one in charge, something especially bizarre when said Avatar is intended to rule that planet.--Debarra (talk) 12:14, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
I have reworded the page to indicate that these things are likely connected, but not confirmed, by the book. Chapter 21 introduces the title of 'the Key', it does not confirm Telsin is the Key and should not be referenced as verified fact. LadyLameness (talk) 23:41, 19 November 2022 (UTC)
I was actually wrong here. While in a few cases Telsin is mentioned as just a leader and it is true that her name and the rank are never used together, she is also mentioned as the leader in the first conversation with Harmony and later in the confrontation at the newspaper office. This does bring up the question of who was the Key before Telsin and why weren't they invested to become the avatar. Lacrossedeamon (talk) 01:55, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
It's also entirely possible there wasn't a Key before Telsin and everything was instead run by the Series collectively, with the position of Key essentially being created for Telsin. --Stargazer (talk) 02:26, 20 November 2022 (UTC)
