Notices[edit]

Notice templates insert boxes that alert users to information regarding the page itself. Some notice boxes should be placed at the top of the article (spoiler warnings, for example), while the notices describing the status of the article will often go at the bottom. Many of the Notice templates will also link the page to a category containing all pages with that notice.

Parent Template:

These are specific notices that can be given:

  • {{attention}} identifies an article that are in particularly bad shape and requests that users edit it.
  • {{cite note}} identifies an article that has no citations at all. It is essentially one large {{cite}} template.
  • {{complete}} identifies an article that is sufficient in content
  • {{copyright}} ask the user not to copy the content on the article. It should be used when the article contains exact text from a book, like The Way of Kings/Epigraphs.
  • {{delete}} asks for an administrator to delete the page
  • {{deleted}} identifies an article that discusses deleted material, i.e. characters or scenes that were written but ultimately cut from the published novel.
  • {{exemplary}} identifies an article that achieves high standards in both completeness and style. This template should only be used by Coppermind staff.
  • {{good}} identifies an article that is mostly complete, but is lacking in either details or style. This template is not commonly used.
  • {{merge}} asks for an administrator to merge the page with another page
  • {{move}} asks for an administrator to move the page
  • {{multispoilers}} is used to provide spoiler warnings for multiple works
  • {{partial}} identifies an article that has some information but is still missing large amounts of content. More complete than a stub, but less than a complete article.
  • {{spoilers}} warns users about new material they may not have read yet. Spoilers should be applied to articles for about a year after the general release of the material.
  • {{stub}} identifies an article that contains very little information
  • {{theory}} stipulates that the article or section should not be considered canon
  • {{uncanonical}} identifies articles without canonical names, like New kid
  • {{unpublished}} identifies articles discussing unpublished material. Note that this is not the same thing as deleted material.
  • {{update}} identifies articles that need to be updated with information from new releases. Similar to the spoiler template, this should be used for about a year after the release of the material. After that, the article should be identified as partial instead.

Reference Templates[edit]

Reference templates are used when citing information. These templates will take the information about a source and format it into a footnote, with a number next to the citation in the text and the full reference at the bottom. There are many different resources that have specific reference templates, including many common websites like Theoryland and the 17th Shard, as well as all of the individual books that Brandon has written.

Parent Template:

The following resources have specific templates:

  • {{17s ref}} will link to a post on the 17th Shard forum
  • {{annotation ref}} will link to an annotation on Brandon's site using the same parameters as {{book ref}}
