Dio is a seon, a magical being on Sel. He is bonded to King Eventeo of Teod on Sel.[1]
Appearance and Personality[edit]
Like all seons, Dio appears as a melon-sized ball of light,[2] with his namesake Aon at the center.[1] Aon Dio means "steadfast" and "immovable".[3] Dio has a "melodious" voice.[1]
Attributes and Abilities[edit]
Dio is sapient, and has the powers of flight, light generation, human speech, and instant communication with shapeshifting.[1] He presumably has other powers common to all seons, such as immortality. He refers to Eventeo as his "master" and is therefore likely bonded to him.[1]
History[edit]
When Sarene is in Arelon, she uses the communication powers of her seon, Ashe, to contact her father Eventeo in Teod. She assumes that he is using Dio for the same purpose,[2] although Eventeo has access to multiple seons.[4] Ashe later notes that Dio may have information about Kiin's possible disinheritance, since Dio is close to the king.[4] Eventeo later physically sends Dio to Arelon in order to contact Hrathen.[1]
